Northline is a fictional five-person studio working from the 45th parallel. This speculative portfolio holds exactly three studies, not because the studio would have only made three, but because three is enough to understand its standard: identity, place, and product, each handled with the whole room watching.

Three speculative commissions, each built around a different kind of pressure: a society that wanted the weight of an institution, an archive that had to be legible at walking pace, and a telescope that needed to fit behind a single thumb.

Salt Line

Thesis: we gave a cold-water swimming society the authority of a hundred-year-old institution.

Constraint
Four hundred members, a group chat, and a radical idea about winter needed to feel less like a club.
Decision
Build the mark, membership book, and sea-balm tin from the same civic visual system.
Result
A society that reads like a governing body for the North Atlantic.

The Long Room

Thesis: ten thousand square feet, and one sentence you can navigate by.

Constraint
Three reopened floors, old signs nobody followed, and visitors who needed confidence at walking pace.
Decision
Set the wayfinding as one continuous sentence of type that runs the wall and turns the corner.
Result
Navigation that feels discovered instead of instructed.

Nyx

Thesis: we put a research-grade telescope behind a single thumb.

Constraint
A twelve-thousand-dollar backyard observatory needed an app that would not insult the instrument.
Decision
Art-direct the night experience around cold hands, one-thumb controls, and a sky that looks like the sky.
Result
A product interface quiet enough to disappear under the stars.
